About Side Door

The front door isn't the only way into a good show.

Side Door is built on a simple idea: some of the best live music happens in rooms that were never meant to be venues, for people who booked a room the hard way — by opening it.

The problem we saw

Independent touring is a numbers game stacked against the artist. Venues want a guarantee. Bars want a bar tab, not a listening room. And a lot of great, working musicians spend more on gas than they make on a Tuesday night in a city they've never played before.

Meanwhile, there are thousands of living rooms, backyards, bookstores, and rooftop decks sitting empty on a Tuesday night too — spaces that would make a genuinely great venue for one night, if anyone knew they existed.

The idea

Side Door connects those two things directly. Artists list where they're headed and what they need. Hosts list what their space can hold and the kind of night they want in it. We handle the matching, the guest list, and the logistics in between — the parts that usually kill a good idea before it happens.

What we believe

A show doesn't need a stage to be real. It needs a room, a reason for people to be quiet at the same time, and someone worth listening to. We think that's worth building tools for — carefully, and without pretending a living room is a stadium.

That's also why every profile on Side Door goes through a review before it's searchable. A host is letting strangers into their home. An artist is trusting a stranger's living room for the night. Both deserve better than an open sign-up form.

Where we're starting

We're opening Side Door city by city rather than everywhere at once, so every early match — artist and host — gets an actual look instead of a form letter. If you're not sure whether your city is open yet, the fastest way to find out is to apply.

We didn't want to build another platform that makes live music feel like logistics. We wanted the boring parts — the guest list, the address, the door price — to disappear, so the only thing left is the show.
